Jean Alleman Jean worked as an aide in a county nursing home and an assisted living center for two years, collectively. In additioin, she spent many years as the main family caregiver at her mother's hospital bedside being translator for the nurses and other staff. She witnessed many instances when her mother's needs were unfulfilled because she could not express herself clearly. She has been married since 1978, has had ten children, and now has grandchidren.
